Spring Thoughts
I was able to go for a slow walk today to the nearby park with my dog. It has been a few weeks since I was able to visit last, and I truly savoured taking notice of all the changes that had taken place.
The narcissi or daffodils as we call all similar yellow flowers here, were in full bloom in their huge concrete container pots, although they grow wherever their bulbs end up rooting, including storm drains and wasteland.

There is not a huge variety of plants at the park as it is mainly a plain large green field, but it has always played a big part in my life and I take a great deal of happiness in enjoying my time there as the seasons turn. I was pleased to see my favourite lime tree (named Alejandro) had finally started to reveal a myriad of tough little buds at the tips of its branches. I always give Alej's thick indented trunk a gentle pat as I pass in anticipatory thanks for the beautiful leafy bowers which will appear in the coming months as a wonderful cool retreat from the summer sun.
At the far end of the park the little willow tree was starting to change its branches from the softest fluffy buds to punky little yellow blooms. I was happy to see the little tree thriving nicely even though it had lost several branches in the previous monthly storms.

Spring lux was this week, from now on there will be more daylight than dark. Of course this gentle natural change is rejigged by the upcoming hour 'leap forward' change from GMT to BST. I used to hope in the future daylight savings would end, but then I think of those in the far north of Scotland who really appreciate the extra light, and of course Cousin Oskaar in Iceland.
