Birds and Tea

Typically the sounds of blackbirds or the 'slightly' louder herring and blackback gulls wake me up in the morning.

However, I slept very late and I was woken up this morning instead by a strange tapping on the window. It turned out to be a jackdaw sifting for insects in the moss on my bedroom windowsill. The sweet little thing was ripping up small tufts with his beak and flinging them at the window to loosen the moss to allow tiny insects to fall out. They didn't stay for long, but I was impressed at their technique, even if it did leave tiny mossy marks on the window pane.

I am very much a believer in modern science and medicine (hooray for vaccines!, boo for pseudoscience nonsense!). I do have time for proven herbal remedies that have been reliably and thoroughly tested as both safe and effective. Therefore, I found it interesting that a herbalist apothecary has recently opened up in town with a fully qualified Medical herbalist selling tinctures, dried herbs and hot chocolate drinks.

Sadly the shop was closing for the day so I did not have enough time to enquire about some rosehip cordial for my mother-in-law. I hope to be well enough soon to visit and try some of the delicious looking tea blends and buy some lavender for my sleep pillow.
